The Church joins in the ‘Doors Open Days’ event

On Saturday 21st September St Andrews Church took part in the Caithness and Sutherland ‘Doors Open Days’. We entertained some fascinated visitors in the Church and explained some of the history which goes back into the 17th century with strong links to the Earls of Sutherland.

One of our visitors, Mr Briscoe from Fort William, followed up with some additional information about the 5th Seaforth Highlanders memorial plaque featured in the Church.

He explains as follows:

“I suspect that the 5th Seaforth WWI memorial was originally in the Drill Hall….”

“I had seen this report previously and made enquiries about what happened to the memorial, your memorial is the same as one in Wick Heritage Centre so sure it is the one in this report….”

Small world!
